Waste/bio-cogeneration

The available vegetable waste, black water and garden waste from the building itself add up to a yearly total of 2,946 tons of biomass. The volume of biogas produced from this biomass totals 185,781 m³. This generates 1,022 MWh of heat and 650 MWh of electricity per year. This covers the building’s total demand for heating and warm tap water. In addition, this figure covers the total energy requirement linked to the building itself (including lighting). Utilised in combination with an aquifer, it will also cover 55% of the electricity consumption connected to appliances and hardware. As the offices are only responsible for 35% of the total electricity consumption linked to appliances and hardware, the entire energy requirement for the offices can be met by the bio-cogeneration unit.
